Since 1908

The same pioneering zeal that forged Monroe Steam Laundry

Monroe’s first commercial laundry sent horse-drawn wagons out to the logging camps each week. In 1908 R.J. Scott bought the business, and by 1920 had swapped steam for electric power — enough of an innovation to drop “Steam” from the name.

The modern Monroe Laundry Company carries that name forward as a tribute. “Since 1908” in our logo is, we’ll admit, a slight stretch of poetic license — but the building, the care, and the pioneering streak are genuinely of a piece with it.
